Paul Keres in World Challengers Tourney
Paul Keres, Estonian-Russian grandmaster, holds the leadership in the World Challengers tourney at Bled, Yugoslavia, after 12 rounds, with an 8½-3½ pt. score. Keres, at 43 years, is the oldest competitor. He was already world famous before young Bobby Fischer was born! But can he stand up to 28 rounds of severe competition and maintain his present form? Bobby has had a very bad run of luck (?) in the second quarter, losing to Keres, Petrosian and Olafsson, in addition to his earlier losses to Tal and Petrosian. Petrosian and Tal, of USSR, hold second and third places, with S. Gligoric, of Yugoslavia, in fourth position.
