Plans Approved For Chess Event
Belgrade (AP) — The International Chess Federation has accepted the proposal of the Yugoslav federation that the Tournament of Candidates for the world championship be held at three places in Yugoslavia.
According to the approved Yugoslav schedule, the first 14 rounds of the tournament will be held Sept. 6-30 at the Alpine summer resort Bled, the next seven rounds Oct. 1-14 at Zagreb and the last seven rounds Oct. 15-31 here.
The winner of the Tournament of Candidates next year will play world champion Soviet grand master Mikhail Botvinnik.
Participants in the Tournament of Candidates will be four Soviet grand masters, Bobby Fischer and Paul Benko of the United States, Fridrik Olafsson of Iceland and Svetozar Gligoric of Yugoslavia.
